MULTIWIR gas washer is used for cooling and cleaning hot flue-gases, as well as for saturating them with water vapour. It is applied as a carbonation gas washer in the sugar industry. The apparatus is made entirely from stainless steel and consists of two parts: a lower part equipped with a bubble washer, and an upper part containing Multiwir metal packing covered with a perforated plate which operates as a water distributor.

The device combines the operating principle of a bubble washer with Multiwir separator. The bubble washer cools the hot inlet gas stream and saturates it with water vapour and mist. Multiwir packing is assigned for the dust actual separation process, which proceeds due to the centrifugal forces induced in the rotating gas jet streams flowing inside the packing channels. Dust particles settle on packing slats and are rinsed by fresh water.
